Here is just one of the services run by ourselves or our partners. These are ongoing; please see our blog post dated 1st October 2010 for activities running this autumn.
GALOP -
Galop provides a free, confidential and independent service to all lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people who have experienced domestic or sexual abuse or hate crime, however or whenever it happened.
Cat Everett is the Young Person’s Domestic & Sexual Abuse Caseworker. Cat supports young people (under 25’s) and acts as an advocate, supporting people to talk about their experiences, get medical help if necessary, report to the police if they want to (anonymously or not) and access counselling, housing, health or other LGBT support services. Cat can help people get an appropriate and effective police response if they choose to report. She can offer support to people as their cases go through the criminal justice system, explaining the procedures, helping people prepare, and accompanying people to police interviews and court.
Cat also offers outreach delivering workshops to young LGBT people on issues relating to domestic and sexual abuse.
Galop also has workers who deal with hate crime & sexual abuse who can also support to LGBT people of all ages.
If you are working with someone who may benefit from our service, you would like to discuss booking a workshop or you are someone who has experienced sexual or domestic abuse, you can contact Cat on the number below or via email: cat.everett@galop.org.uk
